Additionally they acted as a supporting arm to the Military Assistance Command, Vietnam - Studies and Observations Group (MAC-V-SOG).
It wasn’t until the last 1960s heading into the 1970s that 4th SFG would gain a new purpose; a massacre in Northern Minnesota conducted by unknown anomalous entities required the full redeployment of the Green Beret unit to the homeland.
Working alongside 1st SFOS-D, 4th SFG’s first main para-operations campaign would be a thorough response to the Sasquatch population within the United States. Deemed “carnivorous beyond an ability to live peacefully”, 4th SFG and 1st SFOD-D conducted a series of extermination campaigns across the western and pacific north western United States.
Although their Anti-Squatch operations were transferred over to 5th Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, 4th SFG is the first SOCOM unit with a primary goal of conducting operations against PARAFOR, supporting elements, and entities with anomalous capabilities.
